We are seeking three participants for a free pilot tour taking place on February 23, 2026, on Ozushima Island in Yamaguchi Prefecture. This tour is limited to English-speaking visitors only.
Accessible by a short ferry ride from Tokuyama Station on the Shinkansen line, Ozushima is a place deeply shaped by history. Once a training site for the Kaiten—Japan’s human torpedoes during World War II—the island is now drawing attention as a powerful site of dark tourism, where visitors engage thoughtfully with wartime memory and its lasting impact.
This special one-day English tour will be guided by a local high school student and offers a rare opportunity to experience both the island’s wartime legacy and its ongoing revitalization efforts.
More than a historical visit, this program invites participants to explore how memory, community, and renewal coexist in one remarkable place.
